Topic Proposal for Project #1
It seems that some people think writing (academically, research, etc.) does not require any emotion or personal thought. I believe that no matter what a person is writing, it is a clear reflection of who they are as a person and what they believe and value. Unless a person is forced to write about something, they write about things that have some kind of effect on them emotionally, logically, or even socially.

ReplyDeleteThis is an okay start, but you'll really want to try to flesh out your ideas more and related them more to the prompt, especially the idea of the construct. So what constructs about writing could we infer from what you've written here? For one, people often tend to equate "good" writing with writing that is impersonal and objective. In fact, though, all writing is, like you say, going to be influenced by a person's subjective experiences. There's a piece by Donald Murray in WAW that will help you out with this topic as well as a piece by Elbow in ROW. But you'll want to do some outside research too. Some search terms you could use might include: voice, personal writing, objectivity, subjectivity, impersonal, first-person, third-person. Keep thinking about this and how you'll relate it more clearly to the prompt. Good work.
